Once again our group participated in the Jamborette. Bob and Eunice were part of the Scout Radio Team providing radio related activities and the opportunity to talk with radio amateurs and scouts across the world.
The activities were carried out over five days and the radio station received visits from 106 Scouts representing countries across the globe.
JOTA-JOTI is the largest Scouting event in the world with over 1 million Scouts participating across 150+ countries.
The event is held the third weekend of October – for 2016 it’s the 14th, 15th & 16th October.
2016 Theme – Discover Our World
The Radio Club were delighted to put on some radio related activities for the local Beavers as part of their celebration of Beaver Day.
The theme of this year’s Beaver Day was the Beavers 30th Anniversary.
We manned a base providing Morse Code practice, two-way communications using handheld radios and a wide game featuring QR Codes and smartphone QR Code readers.
Great fun was had by all, not least the Radio Club Scouts.
During the day two of our members, Kai MM1AUF and George GM8YUI, were presented with their Chief Scout’s Service Award by Peter, the District Commissioner.
